US Airways Files For Chapter 11 A Second Time

Unable to Get Concessions From Unions, Carrier Seeks Reorganization in Court

Bowing to overwhelming financial pressures, US Airways Group Inc. yesterday sought protection from its creditors in bankruptcy court for the second time in 25 months. The filing, in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Alexandria, Va., came three years and one day after the terrorist attacks that precipitated the deepest crisis in U.S. airline history.
The end seems near for US Airways.
