NYT: Echoes and Theories, but No Solid Links in London Bombings

Another incident in London... I am impressed by the fortitude of the British people. I wonder how Americans would act in the face of such attacks. I hope as well, but I think I know better.

LONDON, July 21 - The blueprint for Thursday's attempted terrorist strike seemed to resemble the deadly attacks of a fortnight ago: four small bombs, carried in backpacks, designed to kill and spread chaos as they exploded nearly simultaneously on three subway trains and a red double-decker bus.

None of Thursday's bombs exploded, and no one was killed. The bombers did not die with their bombs. Instead, the suspects fled, leaving behind the explosive devices - still in the backpacks - and in the process a trail for investigators to pursue.
