The Army Program Executive Office (PEO) Missiles and Space will have $20 billion in funds available for work over the next several years, according to the officer in charge.

The PEO was established in January through the merger of the PEO Air, Space and Missile Defense and PEO Tactical Missile offices. The PEO is responsible for centralized management of the Army's missile and space exploitation and control systems.

The schedule for the anticipated $65 million Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II was laid out in briefing charts Cannon presented at the APBI: The final request for proposal is expected Aug. 5. Source selection is slated to begin in November with a contract award expected in the second quarter of FY '06.

Many anticipated FY '06 contract opportunities would be for subcontracting. For example, there could be subcontract work on a $743 million December '05 contract to Javelin Joint Venture, comprised of Raytheon [RTN] and Lockheed Martin [LMT] for Javelin Command Launch Units, or $38 million contract in March '06 to Raytheon [RTN] for TOW Missiles.
